Plan a Birth Month — Reverse Due Date Calculator
Want a baby born in a specific month? Enter your target due date and we'll work backward to show when to conceive — including your fertile window and the LMP date that maps to it.
How birth-planning math works
Pregnancy lasts approximately 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last menstrual period, or 266 days (38 weeks) from actual conception. To work backward from a target due date:
- Conception date = Target due date − 266 days
- LMP date = Target due date − 280 days
- Fertile window = 5 days before conception through 1 day after (sperm survives ~5 days; egg ~24 hours)
This is the inverse of the standard due-date calculation, useful when you're trying to plan around a season, school start date, work cycle, or family event.
